Medicare eligibility
You become eligible to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B at 65, with an Initial Enrollment Period starting 3 months before your birthday month and ending 3 months after. (source)
Federally mandated half-fare transit
Transit agencies that receive Federal Transit Administration Section 5307 funding cannot charge seniors more than half the peak fare during off-peak hours; FTA rules require this to cover at minimum everyone 65+ (some local agencies extend it to 60+). Medicare cardholders qualify by showing their Medicare card. (source)
Amtrak senior discount
Travelers 65+ save 10% on the lowest available rail fares (not valid with Saver Fares, Auto Train, weekday Acela Express, or Business/First class). (source)
La Quinta senior rate (per some hotel sources)
Some listings report La Quinta's standard (non-AARP) senior rate applies at 65+, with free breakfast included; terms vary and should be confirmed at booking. (source)
